Daily Reflections for November 2026

Continue on for a daily gospel reflection…

Almost every day, I look into the readings that will be read at Mass in the Roman Catholic Church and offer a brief reflection on the gospel for that day. I often take an anachronistic approach allowing the words of Jesus to speak to me today.

May you be blessed as you consider the word of God each day.

A brief reflection on Matthew 5:1-12a

Readings from November 1, 2026

Blessed.

Blessed, happy, fulfilled all describe the people who live our Lord’s beatitudes. Blessed are the poor in spirit, those who mourn, the meek, those who long for righteousness, the merciful, the clean of heart, the peacemakers, the persecuted, and those insulted. All are the result of a natural outpouring of love in a world that does not always understand such love.

Yet, that is our calling. We are blessed always when we put the ways of God first and live as he has taught us.

It is not always easy, nor are the blessings always easily discernible in the light of the world, but the blessings are there nonetheless.

In living out the beatitudes, we are blessed even as we bless the world.
